What is your favorite part about being an EHS employee?  I love working with people.  Seeing new faces every day and helping them pick out the perfect pair of frames is so fun and challenging.  My coworkers and bosses are the best, so coming to work every day is easy!

Protective Eye Wear
Protecting your eyes from the sun is vital to maintaining the health of your eyes.  The sun gives off energy in the form of ultraviolet (UV) rays.  UV radiation is harmful to our eyes and it may increase the risk of developing cataracts and growths on the eye, including cancer.  Here are some tips that can help keep your eyes healthy.

Use sunglasses that block both UV-A and UV-B rays.  These are labeled either “100% UV protection” or “UV400”.  Choose large, wrap-around styles of sunglasses for full protection.Wear wide-brimmed hats.  This will not only protect your eyes, but it will also protect your scalp and face.Protect your children - kids need sunglasses with superior UV protection as well.  Wear sunglasses even on overcast days. Clouds do not block UV light.
Remember, just as you need to use sunscreen to protect your skin, your eyes need proper protection as well.

March 2017

March is Workplace Eye Wellness Month More than 2,000 U.S. workers suffer a job-related eye injury each day, and  nearly 1 million have lost some of their sight due to an eye injury.  To help  reduce these numbers, the month of March has been designated as Workplace  Eye Wellness Month.  The majority of eye injuries that occur within the workplace are due to small  objects striking the eye.  These can include metal, dust, chemicals, wood, tools,  or UV radiation burns.    One of the easiest and most effective ways to reduce eye injuries is to wear  proper safety glasses.   Nearly 3 out of every 5 workers who suffered an eye injury were not wearing  proper protection at the time of the accident.  The following are a few tips to  help protect your eyes while on the job.

Employee Spotlight... Matt

Employee Spotlight

Hey all!  Today we're going to post our first ever, Employee Spotlight.
The idea is to just provide a little bit of info about one of us, for a nice, light, entertaining bit of reading material.
Matt was selected to be the lucky number one!  Matt does a variety of things around the office. A great team player!  He is very well trained in each area, so he is always more than welcome to bounce around from space to space; in hopes of helping anyone and everyone out, in the office. Jack of all trades if you will!  Matt is one of two, Patient Technicians in the office.  He handles a majority of our contact lens ordering, stocking and sorting, in the office.  He works with patients on the insertion and removal of contact lenses.  I have taken a little bit of time, to sit down with Matt and ask him some basic questions.  He's got such a great attitude and personality, needless to say, it was quite an entertaining  'interview' process.
So here we go..
What is you…
