March 2017

March is Workplace Eye Wellness Month
More than 2,000 U.S. workers suffer a job-related eye injury each day, and
nearly 1 million have lost some of their sight due to an eye injury.  To help
reduce these numbers, the month of March has been designated as Workplace
Eye Wellness Month.
The majority of eye injuries that occur within the workplace are due to small
objects striking the eye.  These can include metal, dust, chemicals, wood, tools,
or UV radiation burns.
One of the easiest and most effective ways to reduce eye injuries is to wear
proper safety glasses.
Nearly 3 out of every 5 workers who suffered an eye injury were not wearing
proper protection at the time of the accident.  The following are a few tips to
help protect your eyes while on the job.

  • Wear proper safety glasses, goggles, helmets or face shields
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Practice good work habits
  • Keep a first aid kit with eye wash nearby
  • Identify potential safety hazards
Remember to wear your safety glasses and be sure to call us for your eye emergency needs.
